Working Together, We Can Make Northwest Florida An Even Better Place To Call Home

This unique and beautiful place is a region rich with abundant natural resources, secluded Gulf-side beaches, hidden lakes, bayous and rivers and diverse woodlands home to a remarkable wildlife community.

At The St. Joe Community Foundation we consider this area – our home – a treasure that deserves thoughtful stewardship. That’s why we’re investing in the future of the region. We want to be sure that what’s unique stays that way for generations to come. It is our desire to create a legacy of value for each of the many special communities in this wonderful area that we all call “home”.

The Commitment: In 1999, the Northwest Florida Improvement Foundation, now The St. Joe Community Foundation (STJCF), was established as a 501(c) (3) Foundation dedicated to the ongoing improvement of the quality of life of the people who live, work, and play in Northwest Florida.
  • The STJCF grew out of the recognition that select new towns, resorts and RiverCamps being created by The St. Joe Company (JOE) will have an immediate and long-range impact on the citizens and towns of the region.
  • Funding of STJCF comes from a percentage of the proceeds from sales in specific JOE towns, resorts and RiverCamps. Proceeds are returned to the communities through grants that contribute to building a healthier future for all of us as our region grows.
  • Since its inception in 1999 the STJCF has made more than $3 million in grants to improve the quality of life in the communities it serves. A full list of grants is available on the STJCF website at www.stjcf.com. STJCF is a member of Council on Foundations, www.cof.org and a Partner in the Florida Philanthropic Network, www.fpnetwork.org.

The Communities: STJCF provides charitable grants toward the civic infrastructure of communities in Bay, Franklin, Gulf, and Walton Counties. The primary focus is on strengthening education, improving healthcare, protecting the environment and supporting local cultural interests. These efforts help build healthy, caring, long-lived communities.
  • The STJCF is currently funded by sales at WaterColor and WaterSound Beach in Walton County; The Hammocks, Palmetto Trace and RiverCamps on Crooked Creek in Bay County; and WindMark Beach in Gulf County. SummerCamp in Franklin County is slated to participate once it completes all pre-development requirements.
  • JOE pays to the STJCF one-half of a percent (.005) of the sales price at the time of the initial sale. Subsequent payments to the STJCF continue through recorded deed covenants that require a transfer fee to be paid to STJCF each time a property is sold in perpetuity. This percentage is to be paid to the STJCF by the buyer of the resale property.

STJCF invests this money in the region, adding value because teaching and learning, quality healthcare, parks and recreation, preservation, and cultural experiences are important factors that make communities stronger and improve the quality of life for all.
