The Empty Stocking Fund, a Bay area campaign for The Salvation Army, assists families in our community with food and presents over the holiday season. The Fund received a grant of $10,000.00 in December from The St. Joe Community Foundation. Taking care of a loved one who is sick or at the end of their life is no easy task. The people at Covenant Care help to make those in their care feel loved, comforted and cared for, no matter their ability to pay. The Foundation is honored to provide a grant of $5,000.00 so that the organization can continue to assist Bay county residents in their time of need. New equipment for a new boys and girls Lacrosse Athletic Program at South Walton High School will soon be a reality as The St. Joe Community Foundation granted South Walton High with a $9,000.00 grant check for the new program. The American Cancer Society kicked off its Relay For Life events by receiving funding from The St. Joe Community Foundation, Inc., for both Bay and Walton County. Each county received $5,000.00 for their Relay for Life events in 2017. The St. Joe Community Foundation, Inc. is honored to provide healthcare funding to those in our community that do not have health insurance. The St. Andrew Community Medical Center provides free healthcare to Bay residents with no health insurance. The Foundation provided the Medical Center with a grant of $20,000 for prescription medication funding. Pictured is the staff and clients at the Medical Center receiving their grant check.


Over 1 million pounds of food is provided to Bay residents through a small but vital nonprofit in Bay County in one year. That nonprofit is the St. Andrew Christian Care Center, who provides food and clothing to Bay residents who are hungry and seeking support. The local chapter of Girls, Inc. recently received a grant of $10,000 from The St. Joe Community Foundation, Inc., to help with their purchase of a newer passenger van that picks up girls for their afterschool programs. Moving precious cargo in safe transportation is something that is important to the Board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bay County. So The St. Joe Community Foundation, Inc. assisted with a $25,000 grant to help with the purchase of 3 used buses to help transport children from area schools to the clubs. The South Walton High School Baseball Team recently received a $9,000.00 grant for new pitching machines and field fences. Helping people take control of their lives and family is what Catholic Charities does best. This local organization provides those in need with educational and employment opportunities so that they can be successful and contribute back to society in a positive way. The University Academy PTO recently received a $10,000.00 grant to support their STEAM curricula with a Lego Education Program. The Grief and Loss Support Group recently received a grant of $10,000.00 to help improve their office in Panama City. South Walton’s Caring and Sharing feeds and clothes many in South Walton area that may have lost their jobs or became ill. The Foundation presented the organization with a $5,000.00 grant to help replenish their food pantry. Grit and Grace, Inc.
Each year a small part of Walton County history is retold through storytelling, music and dance. Florida Department of Education Commissioner’s Business Award
The St. Joe Community Foundation and The St. Joe Company was recently recognized by the Florida Education Commissioner for the continued support of Bay Education Foundation through grants and the donation of about 210 acres of land for a new school in Panama City Beach. This prestigious award is proudly displayed for all employees to see at our offices.


Walton High AFJROTC
The Walton High School Air Force Junior ROTC program is the only ROTC program in Walton County. When their Colonel requested a grant from the Foundation to bring about 500 high school cadets from neighboring states for a drill team event, the Foundation was honored to grant their request. Lynn Haven Rotary Club Golf Tournament
To assist with fundraising to help adults that are disabled learn new skills, the Lynn Haven Rotary Club recently held their annual golf tournament with proceeds being donated to the St. Andrew Bay Center, Bay County. E. O. Wilson Biophilia Center
School students from our area delight in attending the E. O. Wilson Biophilia Center each year as they learn about Florida wildlife, conservation and plants. Learning how to enjoy and protect these area is a popular program entitled “Talking Trash”, which students are engaged with a game to determine what to do with, well, our trash! Special Olympics Walton County
There are about 100 athletes in the Walton County Special Olympics program and they are very active in all types of sports. The organization recently received a grant of $2,500.00 from the Foundation for new uniforms needed to wear to compete in County, State and National competitions. Cancer Freeze Golf Tournament
Cancer is a disease that knows no boundaries. Caleb Davidson and his family began raising funds for family and friends in North Walton County to help those with this disease, and after 4 years have helped over 25 families with medical bills, all by bringing together cancer survivors and their family and friends through family friendly events. The Foundation granted a $4,000.00 check as a title sponsor for this recently held golf tournament.


Freeport Youth Sports Association
When a community only has about 4,000 people in it, what can you do to help kids become healthier and more active in their lives? The Foundation funded the Freeport Youth Sports Association with a $4,000.00 grant to bring football and cheerleading equipment to area youth who want to learn the game and play football, learn cheerleading and just have fun. Boys & Girls Clubs of Bay County
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bay County recently held their 2nd Chance Prom to raise funds for the 4 Boys & Girls Clubs of Bay County. The Foundation’s grant of $2,000 helped Prom Queen and Board Member Lee Ann Leonard raise about $25,000 for the clubs. Pyramid, Inc.
The St. Joe Community Foundation is a proud sponsor of Pyramid, Inc., a local adult day training center for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The Foundation provided a grant of $4,000.00 toward their annual performance, which this year will be “Pirate Magic”, held at Gulf Coast State College on July 16. Emerald Coast Business Women’s Association, Inc.
Chocolate lovers united on March 1 at the Marina Civic Center for a “Death by Chocolate” event sponsored by the Emerald Coast Business Women’s Association, (ECBWA); an event that provided a lot of chocolate for a good cause: providing local women with scholarship funding to return to college. The St. Joe Community Foundation was honored to grant $2,000.00 toward this educational initiative, one of the Foundation’s many ways of assisting those in our communities. American Red Cross

The American Red Cross received a grant for $5,000.00 from The St. Joe Community Foundation, Inc., for their 2016 fire prevention program for Walton and Bay Counties. The fire prevention program will assist homeowners on how to protect and prevent a house fire and create a plan to evacuate if necessary. Muscogee Nation of Florida

Assisting their neighbors with food is a high priority for the Indian Tribe Muscogee Nation of Florida and many in the Bruce and Freeport area of Walton County depend on the staple goods provided by the Muscogee Nation of Florida’s Rural Relief Pantry. Up to 45 area volunteers work together to assist their neighbors on Pantry Day. The St. Joe Community Foundation granted the Muscogee Nation of Florida a grant of $4,000.00 to assist with storing the food. Walton Okaloosa Council on Aging

The Walton Okaloosa Council on Aging recently received a $15,000.00 grant from The St. Joe Community Foundation, Inc., to assist with the costs associated with Senior Citizens receiving Meals on Wheels and for the installation of door ramps/thresholds for those in mobility chairs. Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club of the Emerald Coast helped provide volunteers for 2 area mobile food pantries for Freeport and South Walton. Pictured here is the set-up of the South Walton food pantry held in early February 2016 for those in the community that needed food assistance.


Arnold Band

To help promote and show support, the Foundation sponsored a fence banner for the J. R. Arnold High School marching band, Blue Thunder! When the band is practicing at the high school, they can see all the businesses in the community that support their efforts.


Mossy Head Photo

A mobile food pantry was held for the Mossy Head, Walton County community in late January, 2016, funded by The St. Joe Community Foundation working with the Bay Area Food Bank. This rural community in western Walton county was very pleased to receive the donation and over 100 families came for food.


Bay Science & Engineering Fair

The Foundation sponsored the Bay County Science and Engineering Fair for Bay County students, who displayed their science and engineering projects with the hopes of obtaining an award. The Fair was held in January, 2016.


Early Learning Photo

The Foundation recently funded the Early Learning Center of Okaloosa and Walton County for the 3rd year in a row. This organization has been successful in enhancing the current childcare services in Walton County and also assists in funding childcare services for parents returning to work.


Salvation Army

Who doesn’t love music? The Foundation is a honored to fund the purchase of musical instruments for children who attend the Salvation Army’s Panama City afterschool program. Sacred Heart President and Board Members presented an award to The St. Joe Community Foundation as one of the top contributors at their 100th Anniversary Gala, November, 2015. Bay Library Foundation

The Bay County Public Library Foundation promotes literacy and cultural enrichment through events at the Bay County Libraries. The St. Joe Community Foundation recently provided a grant to help fund the 2016 BooksAlive festival taking place in April, 2016 that is sponsored by the Bay County Public Library Foundation. Floriopolis

The Floriopolis Art Center in downtown Panama City Beach on Beck Avenue is a arts metropolis with a Gallary, Market, Studio and Public Art Courtyard. Floriopolis received a grant from the Foundation to help promote the art programs it offers to the community. Walton County Foundation

The Walton Education Foundation was a proud recipient of a St. Joe Community Foundation grant of $4,200.00. This grant will provide all 3rd graders in Walton County with a Periopole Recorder (Flute type instrument) and the opportunity to join an orchestra in the Carnegie Hall Link-Up program for students in April, 2016. West DeFuniak Elementary

The excitement could not be contained by these 2nd graders at West DeFuniak Elementary as they posed for the camera. Teacher Katie Adams just received an $8,000 grant from the Foundation for new iPads for her classroom. The iPads will help Katie’s students that may be below grade level learn faster with the use of the new iPads. Bay County Audubon Society

The Bay County Audubon Society recently received a grant for the 2016 Audubon Travel Adventure Film Series promoting the conservation and preservation of natural areas and wildlife habitat. Accepting the check is Audubon President, Ron Houser, Janet Greeno, Executive Director of the Foundation, and Richard Ingram, Past Audubon President.


Bay Food Bank Mobile Pantry

The Foundation provided funding to the Bay Area Food Bank in July, 2015, for 16 mobile pantries – 6 in Bay County, 6 in Walton County. Pictured is a Lynn Haven Mobile Pantry scheduled at Messiah Lutheran Church and assisted by Bay Medical volunteers. Over 5,000 pounds of free food was provided to more than 100 families in the area. More Mobile Pantries have been scheduled.


Holy Nativity Episcopal School

The Foundation funded Holy Nativity Episcopal School, a local nonprofit school offering quality education from grades K – 8, funding to help with improvements to their historic building in downtown Panama City. The E. O. Wilson Biophilia Center recently received a $20,000 grant from The St. Joe Community Foundation (Foundation) to assist Bay County students with transportation costs to the Center in the 2015/2016 school year. The Emerald Coast Science Center (ECSC), Fort Walton Beach, was recently awarded a grant of $12,960.00 to help K-5th grade students at West DeFuniak Elementary with their science classes. The ECSC has helped raise student’s science tests scores in the past 2 years. A local Panama City school for adults with developmental disabilities recently received funding for a new passenger van. The St. Joe Community Foundation granted Pyramid, Inc., $25,000 to help purchase the van that will transport students to events, as the school focuses on visual and performing arts. Safe Connections, with an office located on College Avenue in DeFuniak Springs, is a court resource that provides a safety for children when their families are experiencing instability or other unsafe behaviors. A $10,000 check was recently received by Safe Connections Executive Director, Sharon Rogers, on the right. Presenting the check is Janet Greeno, Executive Director of the The St. Joe Community Foundation. Safe Connections also has offices in Crestview, Shalimar and Fort Walton Beach.


A $15,000 grant was provided by The St. Joe Community Foundation to sponsor the production of “The Nutcracker” by The Northwest Florida Ballet with live music by Sinfonia Gulf Coast at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center. The Foundation is a proud supporter of the arts in our communities for the past 15 years. The American Red Cross Women’s Expo – The Foundation is a proud sponsor of the Expo held in May, 2015, in Panama City, of which our funding helped to support and educate those in our Bay and Walton communities about the safety of having a smoke detector in homes. Pictured are area volunteers.

Run for your life, the Zombie’s are coming! On October 31, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Zombie Run and the Foundation is a proud community partner in funding this event. Helping those struggling with hunger is what the Bay Area Food Bank has been doing for Northwest Florida for many years. The St. Joe Community Foundation is partnering with Bay Area Food Bank and granted $12,000 toward 16 mobile food pantries to be distributed to help those needing food in Bay and Walton Counties. Candy Nowling, Director of The Matrix Community Center, held a “Jail and Bail” funding drive for the DeFuniak Springs nonprofit in April, 2015 and The St. Joe Community Foundation was happy to provide a $1,000 grant, provided by Janet Greeno, Executive Director of the Foundation. The Matrix Community Center offers area residents assistance with clothing, food, shelter, and other services for those less fortunate in the community.


Summercamp is a fun place to go, full of fun activities and excitement. This year 11 severely disabled youth in Walton and Bay Counties will attend summercamp, operated by the Rotary Youth Camp of North Florida. Working with the DeFuniak Springs Rotary Club, The St. Joe Community Foundation provided a grant of $8,500 to send these 11 youth to the Rotary Youth Camp of North Florida for 1 week this summer. Accepting the grant is Joyce Dove, Rotary Youth Club Camp Director and Rotary member Chuck Lawson.


The Walton High School Language Arts Department received a grant for $13,500 for new mini laptops for students. Accepting the grant at the Walton County School Board meeting is Language Arts Teacher Tracy Nick with Janet Greeno, Executive Director of the Foundation.


ROTC Cadet Nick Van Eycken received a $2,000 Scholarship from Janet Greeno, Executive Director of the Foundation, at the Eglin Air Force Association ceremony. In honor of the 2015 graduates at Rutherford High School, The St. Joe Community Foundation funded a $500 grant toward Project Graduation to help keep our graduates safe the evening of their Graduation. Relay for Life is a volunteer organization dedicated to raising funds to help fight cancer. The St. Joe Community Foundation provided a $5,000 sponsorship this year to the American Cancer Society’s annual North of the Bay event held at Freeport High School, Freeport, Florida. Poetry can be happy or sad, lift your spirits, or inform others how you feel. Girls, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that inspires young girls to be strong, smart and bold. The St. Joe Community Foundation recently assisted in funding a remodeled multi-purpose room at the Girls, Inc. building with a grant of $10,000. Lynn Haven Rotary recently held their 9th Annual Golf Tournament benefitting the St. Andrew Bay Center, a local nonprofit agency that assists adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The Foundation provided a $1,000 grant and pictured are some of the St. Andrew Bay Center’s students, board members, employees and golf participants accepting the check.


Artificial reefs are an important component in our oceans that assist in producing and enhancing the marine environment. The St. Joe Community Foundation is proud to be a partner with Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association (MBARA) and funded $25,000 toward their newest reefs off Mexico Beach. In 2014, the Foundation provided a $5,000 grant to the Air Force Association's Eglin Chapter for Junior Reserve Officer's scholarships at any Walton County High School. A $50,000 grant was funded to AMIkids Panama City Marine Institute to assist with educational programming for the teens that attend this very special school in Bay County. Sinfonia Gulf Coast (SGC) recently received a $25,000 grant for the 2015-2016 season, as they provide a wonderful mix of music education to our area youth. The St. Joe Community Foundation (Foundation) recently granted to Early Learning Coalition of Okaloosa and Walton Counties for $5,000 to assist in covering Walton County parent’s childcare costs, which help parents return to work and be more productive in our society. A 5th grade student from Hutchison Beach Elementary School enjoys her experience in Washington, D.C. STJCF sponsored an essay contest for the school and the winners were awarded with a free trip to Washington, D.C.


The STJCF granted $4,000 to the Panama City Beach Library Foundation for the purchase of new children and young adults books. The check presentation was coordinated with the Babies and Books program.


STJCF granted the Bay Area Food Bank representative, Leah Weber, $12,500 to provide meals to three area Elementary schools backpack programs for hungry children. Waller Elementary, Mossy Head Elementary and Southport Elementary children will benefit from this donation for the next year.


Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance of Northwest Florida Marine Scientist, Alison McDowell, receives $20,000 from STJCF to teach hands-on educational classes to Walton County 6th graders on the Coastal Dune Lake Water Monitoring Program.


STJCF granted funding to four non-profits as part of Tyndall Air Force Base's Service Days. The air men are painting the interior of the Panama City Boys and Girls Club on their service day afternoon.


As part of Tyndall Air Force Base's Community Service Days, funds donated from the St. Joe Community Foundation were used towards the construction of a community garden in Mexico Beach.


STJCF donated $28,800 towards Walton County Education Foundation’s Take Stock in Children Program. The donation will assist 6 Walton County students with a 2-year College scholarship.


STJCF received very thoughtful Thank You cards from 3rd grade students at Mossy Creek Elementary. STJCF purchased 700 peripole recorders for 3rd graders in Six Walton County elementary schools. In conjunction with the Sinfonia of the Gulf Coast, the peripoles will allow these students to perform a concert with New York City’s Carnege Hall Symphony Orchestra in May. Thank you Mossy Creek Elementary Third Graders for these nice cards!


A $10,000 donation from STJCF to Sinfonia Gulf Coast contributed to the funding of live orchestra performances for students of Bay and Walton Counties.


The St. Joe Community Foundation donated $5,000 to the South Walton Youth Football League for the purchase of new protective helmets.


The St. Joe Community Foundation donated $5,000 to the Anchorage Children’s Home of Bay County. The grant was used towards beds and linens at the Sibling Foster Group Home in Panama City Beach.


Early Learning Coalition of Okaloosa and Walton Counties used a $5,000 grant from STJCF toward subsidized childcare for economically challenged working parents in Walton County.


The St. Joe Community Foundation provided a $25,000 grant to The Academy of Science and Discovery Center of Northwest Florida. A Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)-based preschool, the grant allowed the preschool to double in size, growing from serving 22 students to 54 students.


The St. Joe Community Foundation sponsored the Walton County Area Chamber of Commerce Breakfast on Education in August, 2013.


The STJCF donated $5,000 to the Gulf Coast Advocacy Center to assist abused and neglected children in Bay County. Proceeds of the donation were used to purchase over 40 Halloween costumes for children they serve.

STJCF donated $2,500 to the Rotary Club of Panama City Beach to be a sponsor at the group’s Grills Gone Wild event. Grills Gone Wild is the Rotary Club’s signature fundraiser that raises funds for local charitable organizations in Bay County.


STJCF has funded over 21 scholarships in the Take Stock in Children program for Bay County students. Take Stock In Children offers students college scholarships, caring volunteer mentors and hope for a better life.


Thanks to the STJCF's $5,000 donation to the Taylor Haugen Foundation, Emerald Coast Middle and South Walton High School students received rib protecting gear for their football uniforms.


Food for Thought received a $10,000 grant in 2013 to continue with a backpack food program for Bay Elementary, Butler Elementary and Emerald Coast Middle School students.


The STJCF granted the E. O. Wilson Biophilia Center $115,000 in support of the Recycling “Talking Trash” program at the center. It is one of the most popular programs and teaches the visiting 4th and 7th graders about recycling in their community.


The STJCF awarded a $2,500 grant to the Panama City Beach Library Foundation in support of the 2013 Reading and Art Programs for Children and their families.
